The tradition of the Degs at Dargah Ajmer Sharif dates back to the Mughal period. Emperor Akbar gifted the first Badi Deg after his prayers for a son were answered. Since then, the Degs have become symbols of charity, service, and divine blessing.

• Badi Deg (Big Deg): Cooks ≈ 4800 kg of food at once.

• Chhoti Deg (Small Deg): Cooks ≈ 2400 kg of food at a time.

• Ingredients include rice, dal, ghee, dry fruits, and spices.

• The prepared food is distributed as Langar Niyaz to all devotees, free of charge.

 All these Ajmer Deghs are cooked by Zaireen (pilgrims/devotees)
 who can afford to cook, through their respected Khuddams of Khwaja Gharib Nawaz. If you have a plan to cook Degh at any time of the year, please let me know in advance, so that i may make the necessary arrangements required, as Deghs are cooked all the year round. It can be cooked in your personal presence & in your absence too, on your behalf or any sort of Niyaz you want to cook other then Ajmer Degh.

• Sufies, Dervash and Aulia Allah started the custom of arranging
   Langars (free distribution of food for all the makhlooks (mankind)
   and this is now considered as one of the biggest charity one can offer.
  We arrange Langar, which includes one deg of biryani
   that can feed 100 people.
  Note: This should not be included as part of Zakat money.

• We make it possible for you to participate
   in all the activities of Dargah Sharief.
   The activities include milad, khatam of Quran,
  special monthly prayers for members etc.
   This entails becoming a member of our silsila.

• Make transport and lodging arrangement, package trips
   and also offer services of our guesthouse for free stay.

• Make arrangement for donating a room
  for people visiting the Dargah Sharief
  We believe Khawaja Baba's blessings can cure any disease,
   business or personal problems.
